Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children #3) by Ransom Riggs- 4 stars
The final book of the series had me tearing up on occasion. A fantastic end to a fantastic and unique story.
The peculiar children return to stop the wights from taking over peculiardom. But first they must release the ymbrynes. It has been their goal from the first book to free their headmistress and ymbryne, Miss Peregrine. But with no more ymbrynes free, they must somehow weasel their way into the wights hold and take back their family and their freedom.
I don’t want to give anymore away, but I will leave you with my final thoughts on the entire series as a whole.
Gripping & inspiring.
If there is one thing to learn from our leading man, Jacob Portman, it’s that with a little belief in yourself, you can accomplish great things. Through the series he had many opportunities to turn back. To stay with his parents and leave the peculiar world behind. To take the path home or a route that could lead to destruction. Jacob is a boy that people should aspire to be.
- He remained courageous even when he didn’t feel brave.
- He continued to try to do the right thing, even when it wasn’t in his best interests.
- He wasn’t fighting to save his life or earn his freedom, but he fought for his friends lives and freedom.
Fantastic series. Not my favorite, but still a highly recommended read.
“…no matter how I tried to keep them flattened, two-dimensional, jailed in paper and ink, there would always be stories that refused to stay bound inside books.”
