The Queen and the Cure (The Bird and the Sword Chronicles #2) by Amy Harmon

If you read the first book of this series, you know about Kjell of Jeru. He is a strong, cold warrior with a heart filled with an unbridled love for his brother, King Tiras of Jeru.

“Are you sure you aren’t a prince?”
“I am a brother,” Kjell said. “And that is infinitely better.”

Kjell buries his emotions under layers of brawn. His job is his life. His brother is his heart. And through it all, he has judged poorly, loved the wrong and hated the right, and only trusts his instincts on the field.

Until now.

Sometimes all it takes is for someone to find us in our vulnerability and love us for what we struggle to love in ourselves. This is a slow burn like you’ve never felt before.

I fell in love with you in pieces. Layer by layer, day by day, inch by inch.

Amy Harmon ensnares you in this world filled with adventure and the unknown. Not only is this book filled with such vivid descriptions and beautiful hearts, but Amy has a way of keeping the reader hooked with plot twists that will have you yearning for answers.

This book will wrap you up in all the feels, and it might hurt at times, but I promise it’s worth it. Every word. Every moment. Every kiss.

While I personally think I loved the story of The Bird and The Sword a little more than this one, The Queen and The Cure was right up there in excellence. Dive into this book, and slowly burn in one of the sweetest love stories I’ve ever read.

“I saw you,” he said against her lips. “And I never looked away.”

Kjell of Jeru had always known who he was. He’d never envied his brother or wanted to be king. He was the bastard son of the late King Zoltev and a servant girl, and the ignominy of his birth had never bothered him.

But there is more to a man than his parentage. More to a man than his blade, his size, or his skills, and all that Kjell once knew has shifted and changed. He is no longer simply Kjell of Jeru, a warrior defending the crown. Now he is a healer, one of the Gifted, and a man completely at odds with his power.

Called upon to rid the country of the last vestiges of the Volgar, Kjell stumbles upon a woman who has troubling glimpses of the future and no memory of the past. Armed with his unwanted gift and haunted by regret, Kjell becomes a reluctant savior, beset by old enemies and new expectations. With the woman by his side, Kjell embarks upon a journey where the greatest test may be finding the man she believes him to be.
