So. I’m going to start this out by saying, I’m not into MM Romance. I feel awkward reading/thinking about it. It’s just not my cup of tea. However, when KB Ritchie say they have a new book, you know it’s a MUST read. So that’s what I did. For them.
Maximoff stares right at me with resilience and finality that says, I want you.
If you’ve read The Addicted series, you’ve already had the opportunity to meet him and get to know him a little bit, but in DLU, you will submerge in everything about him. I love all that is Maximoff. His love for family, his loyalty, his feelings of responsibility, and even how his mind overthinks everything (I’m totally the same in that category).
Then we get to meet the new bodyguard, Farrow. Now, if you’re ever looking to read about a guy who is the epitomy of sexy badass, look no further. HOT. DAMN. Tattoos, piercings, all black clothes, with a James Franco grin that can melt anyone…
If I have to wrangle the sun out of the fucking sky with my bare hands, then I’ll withstand the burn. I’d give it all to him if I could.
I never expected to love these two together as much as I did. And the banter… THE BANTER. I don’t want to say more because if I do, I’ll go into a crazy rampage and spoil things, so… *zips lips*
Truthfully, I enjoyed so much of this book! All the credit for that goes to the lovely ladies who can write anything and not put me off. Again, MM Romance is by far not my favorite thing in the world to read, but it was still a great book with soooo much emotion that I doubt KBR can do anything less than bring the feels. And… THAT JAMES FRANCO SMILE.
These characters had me laughing and smiling, but I had one dilemma. Every time one of the core six came into DLU from the original series, I lost my mind with excitement. I miss them. I want them. I love them. All six are embedded into my core. What Krista & Becca Ritchie are doing to bring more of this world into our lives is so amazing, but also, I imagine, incredibly difficult. Not only do they have to do these characters justice, but also make the reader fall in love with this new cast equally, if not more, than the original. And with The Addicted series being my top-ever-romance-books-read, it’s going to be an incredible feat to pass. But if anyone can do it, it’s the authors who brought us the core six.
Now, this book, did not make me fall in love with these characters more or equally… yet. I wish they did, but… maybe in the next book? I have faith in KBR to make me fall deep for these characters the way they do in all their writings.
Note to the authors: I hope if you see this, you don’t overthink anything. Absolutely no pressure here from me. What you’re already doing is incredible, and I applaud you for having the courage to branch into the family and try to bring all those feels back with a new cast of characters. It will be my fault if I can’t manage to let go of the original gang. #addictedforlife
But taking the Addicted cast out of the running, this book was GREAT. I look forward to the next one in the series. I have so much I want to know – need to know – and the fact that I have to wait months is going to kill me.

Don’t date your bodyguard.
It was the one rule he had to break.
Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible — the twenty-two-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the internet.
Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth.
He is certified American royalty.
When he’s assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained, Yale graduate who’s known for “going rogue” in the security team — and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff’s sexual fantasies.
Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into “termination” territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated.
Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.
The Like Us series is a true series, one continuous timeline, that follows a family of wealthy celebrities and the people that protect them. Damaged Like Us can be read and enjoyed without reading any of Krista & Becca’s other novels.
